Getting Here
Traveling to Saturn's Return does take a bit of an effort, as we're on an island! Once you're here, our remote location allows us to sink into a deep and magical container together.
You will either take a ferry from Anacortes or a short flight from Seattle, Everett, or Bellingham. Both journeys are beautiful and require advance reservations. Reach out with any questions as you book your travel!
Please arrive on Wednesday between 3-6pm and plan to depart Sunday by noon. We will help coordinate ferry rides in advance. On Wednesday, you’ll have time to settle into your room, drink in the ocean air, and walk the grounds before we convene at 7pm for our first dinner together. On Sunday, our retreat will end after breakfast, with departure requested by noon.
And if you’d like to extend your stay at Saturn's Return before or after the retreat, let us know and we can likely add to your reservation. To learn more about getting to San Juan Island, see our Welcome Guide.
When you're ready, scroll to the bottom to reserve your spot! If you have any questions, please send us a note: hello@saturnsreturn.com.
Team
Satya Doyle Byock, LPC (facilitator, right) is a psychotherapist and the author of “Quarterlife: The Search for Self in Early Adulthood”. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, Oprah Daily, and on NPR, the BBC, and many podcasts including Pulling the Thread and The Podcast with a Thousand Faces. She is also the director of The Salome Institute of Jungian Studies, where she teaches online, and co-host of the podcast on Carl Jung’s Red Book. Her regular Substack is Self & Society.
Gracie Gardner (chef, left) has worked in fine dining (Blue Hill at Stone Barns), owned and operated her own catering company (Nellie’s on Salt Spring Island), and now works as a freelance chef and writer back in her hometown of New York City. She has spent the majority of her career cooking for others, but believes that true change in one's approach to food has to come from empowering them to find joy, ease, and sacredness in feeding themselves. A pillar of a vital life. When Gracie is not cooking, she’s reading and writing, sharing her musings on her Substack, “This Morning.”
Emma Rastatter (host) is the co-owner of Saturn’s Return, along with her husband, Wiley.
She had the privilege of working with Satya throughout her 20s to find deeper alignment: from studying biology and pre-med at Stanford, to working in health tech, and ultimately upstream to a wellspring of human and ecological health: food & farming.
She worked at Blue Hill at Stone Barns as the chef Dan Barber’s assistant, where she gratefully crossed paths with Gracie. After living and working on regenerative farms across the country, she and Wiley fell in love with the farming community on San Juan Island and bought Saturn’s Return on the summer solstice of 2022, where she’ll weave her passions of health, food, and wholeness.
